Leigh-Ann Flanagan is the owner of Bedrock Pilates, located in south Kitchener. She is a Certified Pilates Instructor specializing in functional movement, rehabilitation and body awareness centered on core strength.
Leigh-Ann has being teaching Pilates since 2003 helping clients with back pain, disc issues, SI joint dysfunction, brain injuries, pelvic floor issues and the general population teaching group classes and private lessons. Clients find Leigh-Ann primarily through word of mouth and referrals from physiotherapists, chiropractors and massage therapists. Leigh-Ann is passionate about identifying imbalances in the body and correcting them through mobility. She teaches stretching and strengthening exercises using precise cueing and props, along with instruction in body and mental awareness. The result is improved muscular balance, posture, gait and a removal or reduction of pain.
I fell in love with Pilates over 10 years ago, shortly after enrolling in a class at Bedrock Pilates, and I have been passionate about it ever since! What I find truly inspiring is the fact that Pilates fosters a mind-body connection empowering a body awareness to make the most out of each workout.Over the years, Pilates has given me a great sense of body awareness, strength/toning, as well as an overall feeling of health and well-being. I enjoy helping my clients feel the same positive effects that I do from Pilates and to achieve, and exceed, their personal goals as well. I completed my Pilates teacher training through Body Harmonics in Toronto, in early 2014 and since then I have also taken multiple courses to keep current with fresh and new Pilates movements and information. Pilates continues to make me feel energized to take on anything that comes my way. I challenge everyone to keep moving and to experience the benefits of Pilates that will strengthen your body from the inside out and leave you feeling fit, toned and rejuvenated!
Liz’s journey began several years ago when she first discovered yoga. After attending a few classes and finding herself intrigued with not only understanding the purpose of each yoga pose but also the philosophy behind it, she decided to enroll in the Yoga Instructor Training Course through Yoga Alliance at Conestoga College. When enrolling, Liz’s intention was to deepen her knowledge of yoga for her own personal use only. As the course progressed, Liz discovered how truly beneficial yoga can be - not only for the body, but for the mind and spirit as well, and realized she wanted to share this discovery with others. In 2015 Liz completed her RYT-200 and since then has had the privilege to train with professional yoga instructor Bo Forbes. Liz has also completed her Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga certification (LVCY-T).
Liz’s practice is a very gentle approach to yoga. She believes that by nourishing the body with the practice of movement, held postures, breathing exercises, mental focus and meditation, we can bring better health and well-being to ourselves. People who practice yoga say they feel more relaxed, accomplish more with less stress and have a sense of calm. Liz hopes to bring that to the mat of each of her students.
